EDGAR ALLAN POE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE
a bronze tablet commemorating the birth of
Edgar Allan Poe
unveiled January 19, 1989
On the 180th anniversary of Poe's birth, a group of Bostonians led by Michael Moskow, the Poe impersonator Norman George and others unveiled this tablet which still exists on the Boylston Street side of the building facing Boston Common at the corner of Charles Street South which is owned by Mr. Moskow. Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino formally announced the naming of the tree-lined, brick plaza in front of this building Edgar Allan Poe Square on April 27, 2009.
